Horseboxes and horse trailers

GPS trackers for horseboxes and horse trailers

A horsebox spends most of the week parked at the yard, on the drive or in a field, often with no one around. A SatTrack tracker hides out of sight, needs no wiring, and tells you the moment it moves. On show days it records every journey, and you can share a live link with whoever is driving.

From £139 + £99 a year, inc VAT. Delivered ready to use.

James Plaskett★★★★★

Started off with one unit, Sattrack supplied an aerial due to our rural location FOC, it's been working really well, so I have just purchased a further 5 units. Sattrack and Will have been brilliant - happy to assist quickly.

Paul Harvey★★★★★

What you can track

If it has a flat surface, it can carry a tracker

Horse trailers

An Oyster3 hidden under the floor or inside the front locker. Every journey recorded, an alert the moment it is hitched and moved.

Horseboxes and horse lorries

No wiring and no auto-electrician: the tracker runs on its own batteries, so it goes in out of sight in minutes and never touches the vehicle’s electrics.

Parked at the yard

Draw a geofence around the yard and get told when the box leaves it, with out-of-hours alerts for the times nobody should be moving it.

Show days and competitions

See where the box is on the way there and back. Share a live link with whoever is driving, or with family waiting at home, and switch it off afterwards.

Shows in Ireland and Europe

The SIM roams at no extra cost across Ireland, France, Spain, Germany, the Netherlands, Belgium and most of Europe, so the box reports abroad just as it does at home.

Laid up over winter

Fewer outings means more time standing still. Switch it to Eco profile and it checks in daily and still alerts the moment it moves.

How it works

Delivered ready to use. No SIM to buy, no wiring, no engineer.

Attach it

Screws, bolts, rivets or cable ties, anywhere with some view of the sky. Batteries are in and the tracker is already registered to your account.

It connects on its own

A multi-network 4G SIM is fitted and paid for. It picks whichever of the big networks is strongest, and is unaffected by the 2G and 3G switch-off.

Track and get alerts

Latest position and journey history in the SatTrack app and dashboard. Geofence, movement and out-of-hours alerts. Recovery Mode if the worst happens.

FAQ

Questions we get asked

Where do I hide a tracker on a horsebox?

Anywhere out of sight with plastic, wood or fibreglass above it rather than solid steel: inside the front tack locker or under a seat in the living area, behind an interior panel, or under the floor of a horse trailer. Avoid the obvious places a thief would check first, such as the battery box or behind the dashboard, and keep it out of reach of the horses. GPS needs some view of the sky, so fully boxed in steel on all sides will weaken it.

Does it need wiring into the horsebox?

No. It runs on its own lithium batteries and is not connected to the vehicle at all, so there is nothing to wire in, nothing to flatten, and it works the same on a trailer that is not hitched to anything. The 2-year battery guarantee applies on the recommended tracking profile: if the batteries run out inside 2 years, we send replacements free.

Can whoever is driving be tracked on show days?

Share a live link from the app and anyone with the link can watch the box on a map without a login, then switch the link off when you are done. Your account can also have as many users as you like at no extra cost.

Will my insurer give me a discount?

That is up to your insurer, so ask them before you buy, and keep your order confirmation in case they want proof it is fitted. We do not promise a discount. SatTrack is not a Thatcham-approved recovery service and we do not claim to be; what we give you is the alert and the position, within minutes, so you and the police can act.

Can I take it to shows in Ireland and Europe?

Yes. The SIM roams at no extra cost across Ireland, France, Spain, Germany, the Netherlands, Belgium and most of Europe. Italy and Portugal are on NB-IoT only, so ask us first. Not covered: the Isle of Man and Guernsey.

What happens if something is stolen?

You get a movement alert within minutes in any profile. Open the app and select Recovery Mode on that tracker. It then reports every 30 seconds, near enough live, for up to 24 hours at a time, and you can switch it on again, so you or the police can follow it. Share a live link from the app and the police can watch it move without needing your login. Recovery Mode is something you select; it does not switch on by itself, so keep notifications turned on.

How long do the batteries really last?

It depends on the tracker and how much your asset moves, which is why we guarantee it rather than guess. On the recommended Standard profile the Oyster3 carries a 2-year battery guarantee, and the Barra carries it on Eco. If the batteries run out inside the guarantee period, we send replacements free. They are lithium AA batteries you can buy off the shelf and change yourself in a minute. Ordinary alkaline batteries will not last, so use lithium.
